APPLES APPLES EVERYWHERE

One of our late summer time activities we love to do, and haven't done in years, is make our own applesauce. So with a bit of encouragement from our daughter we decided it was about time.

First off, either pick or buy the apples. We did both- managed to get some island apples, AND some at the Saturday market.

2 varieties...

How did they ever manage before the apples peeler/corer was invented? Seriously!

You know- then the usual, sterilize the jars, and lids, and, and, and...

While that's going on- you start cooking down the apples...

And in goes the Red Hots (no more sugar needed)...

Love that color...

Ah, the finished product- sure looks good on the shelf...
